Urbanization has happened with the rapid growth in economic development together with industrialization and manufacture for producing numerous services and products. Agriculture/ and agricultural regions/ countries has supplied the foods to those urbanized areas, however we are wondering about how much growing demands from urban can be met through supplies from agriculture. Firstly, one of the critical reasons is due to climate change which is a growing threat to global food security. Especially Singapore imports more than 90% of foods from other countries. In such environmental and economic issues, it is considered to seek ways to prepare current citizens in the society to be active in leading the situation to make better. Accordingly urban farming has appeared as a solution to enable local food production as well as bring the farms closer to the community.
Thus, in respond to the current context, through developing a platform for sharing skills and knowledge about growing plants (edible or not) it will create a culture that people become more aware of bringing out green efforts. This awareness and people’s efforts will help them to build sustainability by sharing knowledge and gathering together, which will be possible to supply edible vegetables/ foods with their own in the future.
